Application

10-micron filter cartridges serve as the final defensive barrier against fine particulate contamination, sand, silt, pipe scale, and iron sulfides. They are classified as fine filtration tools used across upstream, midstream, and downstream operations to protect multi-million dollar equipment, downstream processes, and reservoir integrity.

Here is how they are specifically used:

  1. Water Injection and Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR)

Before injecting produced water or seawater back into a reservoir to maintain pressure or push out oil, the water must be highly purified.

  • Reservoir Protection: Fine particles can plug the tiny pore throats of the reservoir rock, permanently choking the well.
  • 10-Micron Role: These cartridges act as polishers after larger sand filters, trapping microscopic particles that would otherwise cause formation damage.
  1. Downstream Amine and Glycol Loop Purification

Gas processing plants use chemical loops to sweeten gas (Amine units to remove Hâ‚‚S and COâ‚‚) and dehydrate gas (Glycol units to remove water).

  • Foaming Prevention: Hydrocarbon aerosols, iron sulfides, and pipe scale contaminate these chemical loops, causing severe foaming and reduced chemical efficiency.
  • 10-Micron Role: Cartridges continuously filter the circulating chemical stream to remove the fine solid contaminants that trigger foaming.
  1. Protection for Completion and Workover Fluids

When completing a newly drilled well or repairing an old one, clear brine fluids (like calcium chloride or zinc bromide) are pumped downhole.

  • Fluid Polishing: Any solids in these completion fluids can bridge across the producing zones, sealing off oil flow.
  • 10-Micron Role: High-flow, 10-micron pleated or depth cartridges filter the brines on-site just before they enter the wellbore.
  1. Guarding High-Pressure Pumps and Rotating Equipment

High-pressure injection pumps, compressors, and multi-stage surface pumps rely on tight internal clearances.

  • Erosion Control: Fine particulates act like liquid sandpaper, rapidly eroding impellers, pistons, and mechanical seals.
  • 10-Micron Role: These filters are installed directly upstream of sensitive rotating machinery to eliminate catastrophic mechanical wear.
  1. Fuel and Lube Oil Conditioning for Field Machinery

Oilfield operations run heavy-duty gas turbines, diesel generators, and large compressors in remote environments.

  • Nozzle and Engine Protection: Micro-solids in diesel or fuel gas plug injector nozzles and foul engine components.
  • 10-Micron Role: They serve as fuel gas or diesel conditioning filters, ensuring the fuel entering the engines meets strict manufacturer cleanliness specifications.

Common Cartridge Formats Used

  • Pleated High-Flow Cartridges: Used when high dirt-holding capacity and high flow rates are needed in compact spaces (e.g., water injection).
  • String-Wound / Melt-Blown Depth Cartridges: Used for varying particle size distribution, capturing larger chunks on the outer layers and 10-micron particles deep inside (e.g., amine loops).

Packaging: Our Filters are supplied in 480 x 10 Micron Filter Units per Pallet
